Delhi is the National capital of the country and also home to the President and the Prime Minister of the country. The Regional passport office in Delhi was one of the first to be started in India in the year 1954 just seven years after Independence. The passport office in the national capital is open on all days from Monday to Friday and closed on the weekends on Saturday and Sunday. The passport office also remains closed on public and Government holidays every year. The Regional passport office timings are 9.30 am to 6.00 pm everyday though the submission of application forms is from 10 am to 2.30 pm. The passport office officers though are open to the public only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The passport office in Delhi caters to all the citizens of Delhi and also to the citizens of the following eight districts of the neighbouring state of Haryana, Gurgaon, Rewari, Faridabad, Nuh, Jajjar, Rohtak, Sonepat, Mohindergarh and Rewari.
